Abstract

The launching of Google Wallet in 2011 has triggered the idea of industry to fully exploit the advantage of Android platform in our daily life. Thus, the main idea of this project is to design a card emulator which can be used to enable door access via Android platform. Thus, a hardware sleeve that acts as a communication medium in between Android platform and near field communication (NFC) reader is designed and implemented. The communication protocols involved in the project are Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP), Universal Asynchronous Receiver / Transmitter (UART) and NFC. By having the project implemented, the conventional key in security access can now be replaced through an Android smartphone. However, the design can still be improved by having security issues taken into consideration. Apart from that, the prototype can be miniature in term of size.
