Abstract
Hybrid car, use more than one sources of energy to move the vehicle and most commonly sources used is petrol and electric. Because electrical was one of the source of energy that being use in hybrid car systems, a project on Retrofit Conversion of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) project have been conducted. This Retrofit Conversion of HEV project is a very large scale project, it consist of many component such as Electronic Drive-by-Wire (DBW) Throttle System, Re-generative Braking System (RBS), LabVIEW-based Driver Interface (LDI), and Brushless In-Wheel Motor System (IWM). However in this project the discussion will be focusing about Brushless In-Wheel Motor System (IWM). This report is presenting the studies that conducted on implementation of brushless in-wheel motor systems for converted HEV. In this project studies will be conducted on the brushless DC motor characteristic and as well with the behaviour of it speed control using an external controller such as Compact RIO.
