As technology advances, robots will become more prevalent in society. In order for the robots to be effective, considerable research in the mechanisms of the robot needs to be done to discover how to integrate robots into our society and to ease the human life. This paper describes a robot, the I-Roomba vacuum cleaning robot which has been around us since 2002. The robot was invented by iRobot Company on 2002 and since then, the development of the robot did not stop where after two years, on 2004 i-Robot has stood with two model ofRoomba. The different with the two models are cost and energy consumption. The objective of this study is to develop new liken product with Roomba that been produced by iRobot. To achieve the objective, there many steps involve such as, the hardware part, whereby the movement of the robot, the vacuum ability and the sensors that control the robot need to take into consideration. Meanwhile, the important part of it was to program the robot in such way that it can cover the whole area, with or without obstacle. The needs to find the correct algorithm to cover whole surface is very important. There are a few algorithms that have been applied to the existing Roomba, and the most successful one is by the iRobot itself. Since the software part of the robot is very important, the research has been focused on developing the software, while at the same time the prototype has been developed accordingly.
