Abstract

Solubility of hydrogen and carbon monoxide in dodecane and 1,4-dioxane were measured using the high pressure solubility cell over thetemperature range from 303 to 323 K and pressure range from 2 to 10 bar. The measured solubility were correlated and interpreted by activity coefficient models based on regular solution theory (RST) with Yen andMcKetta correction for polar solvent. Experimental data and RST shows hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide gas are more soluble in 1, 4- dioxane than dodecane and carbon monoxide gases have greater solubility towards both solvents than hydrogen gases. RST model acting in this particular system with large errors. The RST model might notbe suitable for this particular system.
