Abstract
Continuous electricity supply is one of the critical issues today. However, due to the
internal and external disturbance, fault problem might be occurring in an electricity
system resulting disconnection an electricity supply. Fault may occur due to short
circuit, ground fault or overloading. Tripping of ELCB might bring safety issues if the
house is left unoccupied within a time. Operation of some critical equipment will be stop
immediately such as refrigerator which will lead to food damage. The problem is when
the ELCB will turn ON again manually if the occupant were not aware with this
problem and not turn up to the house within a time period. Thus, an Automated
Protection System for Three Phase System is being developed to overcome an electricity
trip problem. The idea is to compare the value of current at live wire and neutral wire. If
the difference is bigger than preset value, the location of fault will be determined. When
the location of fault is determine, the fault MCB can be isolated. The automatic system
will be able to detect and isolate the fault in order to ensure the power continuity in the
building and avoid any property loses.
