Abstract

Conventional gas sensor has high operating voltage, high power consumption, slow response time, bulky and operates in high temperature. This is partly due to millimeter gap spacing and pure metal (Al, Cu) used as electrodes. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) have started to be developed as the sensing element for the ionization-based gas sensors to lower voltage breakdown and the demand for improved sensitivity, selectivity, stability and other sensing properties beyond what can be offered by the conventional ones.
