Contamination Modeling in Selected Areas of Cameron Highlands using Geographical Information System(GIS)

The study entitle! ' Contamination Molcling in Selected Areas of Cameron Highlands
using Geographical Information System (GIS)' is aimed to model the flow of
contaminants from its possihble sources to the surrounding within the study area. Data
needed in this study arc, the location of sources of contaminants, contour line map, land
use map and river map of Cameron Highlands. These data arc in different layers with
different features and information. These data wert then operated under GIS software
using its operation like map overlays, spatial analyst and hydrologic modeling. Several
output maps were produced from the operations. Interpretation of the output maps were
taken place afterwards to determine the most critical areas that arc seriously aflcctcd by
the sourccs identified. front this study, US tool is decided to be a convenience tool for
modeling since it can complement some of the conventional method's weaknesses.
