Abstract

Oil and gas industry in Malaysia has been well established in the region. Since the water depth in Malaysia is categorised as shallow water depth, majority of the offshore platforms built in Malaysia is the fixed jacket-type platform. Jacket platform in Malaysia is mostly reaching the end of design life, which is 30 years. The newest current oil extracting method like Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) pushed the aging jacket-type platforms to be used beyond their design life. Hence, structural assessment is needed to assess the capacity of the platform for further use. The research objective is to determine and compare the effect of time-dependent corrosion data namely Average Mean Corrosion and Severe Mean Corrosion to Ultimate Strength and Reserve Strength Ratio (RSR) of three (3) platforms specifically located in Sarawak Operations (SKO) owned by PETRONAS.
