Abstract

Multitudes of research has been done to study the behavior of FRP on the shear strengthening of RC beams, but yet the guidelines for FRP design are still very questionable in terms of the design optimization. There is yet a conclusive model that can accurately represents the actual effect of FRP on the shear contribution to the RC structure. This program was carefully designed and instrumented to present more data to the pool of research on this topic by studying different parameters that affects the FRP shear contribution, particularly on the steel stirrups ratio, FRP ratio and effect of different wrapping schemes. Hence, ten rectangular beams were assembled with different internal steel stirrups spacing of 200mm, 150mm and 100mm, further reinforced with variable width of FRP strips and wrapping scheme of either U-wrap or side bonded.
