Abstract
Construction time and cost overrun are not uncommon on construction projects world over
and also in Malaysia construction industry has not escaped the challenges of failing to
deliver project within time frame and with allocation budgeted. In order to find mitigation
measures of time and cost overrun, the first step is to identify the causes of these overruns.
This study assesses the causes of construction and oil gas projects time and cost overrun in
the Malaysia. The author includes the improvement in time and cost overrun that can be
implemented in construction and oil and gas projects in the future. In order to obtain data,
survey questionnaires and interviews are conducted to different management levels in
companies involved in construction and oil and gas projects
