Abstract

Offshore industry is one of the major industries in the world. Numbers of design technologies have been developed in order to develop the offshore structures due to the discovery of new shallow water oil fields. Majority of the offshore platforms are jacket platforms. Adapting design standards in designing offshore platforms considering the economical factor is one of the perspectives that can be looked into. The main purpose of this study is to propose a suitable recommendation for the hydrodynamic coefficients for tubular members fitted with sacrificial anodes. Hydrodynamic coefficient values that are inaccurate can lead to over or under designing an offshore platform. Based on that situation, a suitable recommendation will be done at the end of this study by comparing the theoretical total force value that is calculated using Morison equation with the experimental total force value that will be measured in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS offshore wave basin.
