Abstract

Headwater accident is a natural phenomenal that possibly to happen in every flow channel. The headwater accidents have caused tremendous incidents that involved vulnerable lives and destruction of its surroundings. This study focuses on the headwater accidents at Lata Kinjang waterfall, Perak. The incident is studied by utilizing the Lattice Boltzmann method with the aim to understand the behaviour of headwater accidents in term of hydraulic aspects such as water height and velocity. LABSWETM model has been used to simulate the headwater condition for Lata Kinjang waterfall. The output from the LABSWETM model simulation is reported in term of water height progression and velocity profile which been further analysed. Possible mitigation measures are provided from the study.
