Abstract
This project involves discovering on real-time Internet of Things (IoT) based water quality monitoring system. This project is one of IoT application which is now being developed by people in this innovative technology era. The prototype has been developed with three sensor parameters, temperature, turbidity and pH value. Using this, people can monitor the water quality, collect all relevant data and information, decide and perform suitable water treatment. With data analysis, people can monitor water pollution level which are referring to Water Quality Index (WQI) provided by departmental of environmental. WQI is used as a reference for the data collected from the monitoring devices which later will be sent to Internet for interconnectivity with other devices to monitor the water quality effectively. IoT is capable to interconnect people to machine and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) that enhance the networking of data and feasibility along with the massive usage of Internet. Other than that, this project also involves cloud computing that is applied to cloud storage to store all the data transferred remotely from the device at any location. The data stored will be used for further data analysis. Furthermore, this project applies comprehensive power management to reduce power consumption and extend the battery life of the device within a single charge up to 30 days. On the other hand, with IoT, connectivity to Internet is even improved together with low power consumption for enhancement of efficiency and intelligent communication between machines for the connection to the Internet. Lastly, with future network architecture to improve the power efficiency and further enhance the development of smart devices using IoT applications. For data collection, the device is deployed in three different lakes at UTP within 6 weeks using pillar to remain static at one place.
