Abstract

Nowadays, inductive power transfer was widely used especially in the electrical vehicle applications. This type of power transfer uses a varying magnetic field to couple power across an air gap, to a load without physical contact. As to increase the performance of the magnetic structure, this paper proposes to make a comparison on the ferrite physical change in the power pads design. Circular magnetic structure is designed in 3-D finite element analysis modelling. A proposed structure is design with 600mm diameter of the pad with a 50mm air gap. The new design is compare with the sample design of the power pads. This should follow the needs of IPT system nowadays which want the efficient in power transfer, less costly and light design in the power pads design.
