Abstract
In present day technology, our surrounding environment is presented with a network enabled computerized innovation. This type of automation expands the network of smart equipment within the room. Presently, the fans and air conditioners are not equipped with sensors that can detect the absence of the people, hence they continue to operate even when there is no person in the room. This leads to wasting of the energy. The solution to this problem is by designing a Smart Fan system which will detect existence of people in the specified area by using ultrasonic sensor. So, in this research we have utilized ultrasonic sensor for easy exact human existence detection that switched-on a fan automatically when detects there is people movement in the room. Moreover, the Smart Fan system includes another advantage that allows controlling the speed of the fan relying on the surrounding temperature. The proposed system is planned to have several objectives such as Smart Fan system able to reduce power usage, save energy and user friendly while sense the presence of human inside room turns out to be successful. Designing and modelling a sensor for temperature detection and a control circuit that switch on/off the fan also has been developed. The result from several simulations that have been done to test the efficiency of the system shows energy efficiency is higher compared to current system.
