Abstract

The growth of number in people with motor disability has increased
significantly in the past few years. The conventional methods of treatments require
patients to move from one place to another as it can be done only in certain places.
Nowadays, with the advancement of virtual Reality (VR) technology in producing
more and more lifelike experiences, many researchers take this opportunity to integrate
both the technology and biomedical field. This virtual therapy environment system
would provide a convenience home-based therapy system for the patients where the
system can be placed at home and monitored by therapist from distant. Moreover, the
system also capable of providing real-time tracking towards the performance of the
movement behaviours during the session. For the moment, movement of upper limb
will be the priority as the patient has to move things from one side to another during
the VR experiences. The system would provide convenience access to perform therapy
session at home, office or even hospital and achieving cost efficiency. Two types of
routine, horizontal and vertical routines, available benefit for upper limb. Both scorebased
routines consist of two activities called grabbable books and colour sliders. The
score will provide the performance of the patients from time to time.
