Abstract

In this thesis, for the first time, the design and fabrication of a novel class of emerging waveguide filters based on chained-functions at the millimeter-wave band is investigated. The main objective of this thesis is on the implementation of the chained-function concept based on the partition theory in waveguide filter design. The chained-function filters, which lies in between the Butterworth and Chebyshev filters, inherent the salient properties of both Butterworth and Chebyshev filters. Therefore, the chained-function waveguide filter exhibits filtering responses that have a superior rejection property and a lower loss with reduced sensitivity to fabrication tolerance, in comparison with the standard Chebyshev response waveguide filter.
