Abstract
As we all know, mankind has been depending on the burning of fossil fuels to generate energy. This activity has since left numerous impacts towards mother nature due to the high emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide into the atmosphere. To create a sustainable environment, especially in Malaysia, the application of floating offshore solar farm (FOSF) should be further studied as it holds many benefits. This project is carried out with an aim to analyze the feasibility of FOSF for application in Malaysian waters with respect to its impacts towards the environment. To do so, the methods that will be used are analytical method and environmental impact studies. As a result, the hydrodynamic forces, response amplitude operators (RAO) and mooring analyses were calculated and obtained. An environmental impact study was carried out to determine the most feasible mooring system for FOSF application in Malaysian waters. On top of that, a short survey was also conducted to gather information from industrial experts. Based on the results obtained from the analyses and survey, the most feasible mooring system for application of FOSF in Malaysian waters was then determined.
