Abstract

This project discusses about the ideas and process of developing mobile application
which is UTP Bus Tracking and Monitoring System. This system will be based in
mobile application that will be implemented on the UTP shuttle bus. No one-stop
center to view the scheduling of the UTP bus except in the UTP community group
and difficulty to track and monitor the arrival of the bus at the specific bus stop become
the main problem of this project. The main objective of this project is to study about
GPS Technology integration for real-time scheduling as it provide the real time arrival
of the bus inside the UTP to the students who using the bus as their main transport to
move around the UTP, designing and develop UTP Bus Tracking and Monitoring
system for UTP and build a sustainable GPS Tracker which can be install inside the
bus. The students can plan their trip efficiently by using this application as this system
will provide the expected arrival of the bus at the respective bus stop. The problem of
the current situation is difficult to track and monitoring the arrival of the bus at the
specific bus stop in UTP and lead the students to miss their trips and inefficient
platform for the bus schedule which does not have proper platform to view the arrival
of the bus inside the UTP campus. Thus, UTP Bus Tracking and Monitoring system
will be a stepping stone to improve the current system that had been used in the UTP
that allows the user can view the real-time arrival for the bus anywhere and anytime
through their smartphone. For the project developments, a model well knows as rapid
application development had been applied and will be explain in one of the chapters
of this paper.
