EFFECT OF BULK TEMPERATURE ON SOLUBILITY OF ASPHALTENES.
Masters thesis, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.
Abstract
Fouling has been a matter of great concern in crude oil production, processing and
transportation. Crude oil fouling causes many problems, like, efficiency loss at heat
transfer equipment, operating problems, adverse environmental effects, reduced profit
margins and higher revenue losses. Crude oil fouling is widely attributed to
asphaltenes precipitation and deposition and it is believed that all of the organic
fouling is caused by insoluble asphaltenes. The tendency of asphaltenes to flocculate,
aggregate and deposit on heat transfer surfaces has posed great challenges for the
petroleum industry.
