Abstract

Oil palm frond biomass is type of lignocellulose substance that has high potential to
be fabricated into useful substances such as bio-composite material. However
pretreatment has to be performed on it prior to the fabrication process in for the
enhancement in its mechanical and thermal properties. Several other studies have
carried our similar pretreatment process on biocomposite material and reported
improvements on the mechanical properties. This research work intends to carry out
both Ionic Liquid and conventional non-ionic liquid pretreatment on oil palm
biocomposite for the determination of its improved thermal degradation kinetics and
correlates the finding with the reported mechanical properties improvements in earlier
research papers.
