Abstract

For an AC motor to perform at its maximum capacity, running current data is important.
This study aims to develop a wireless current indicating device for AC motors that will
provide running current data for electrical engineers. This data will eventually be analyzed
and used to increase the load for higher production in oil and gas refineries. In this research
one of the subsystem of the wireless current indicator that is, the current detection circuit,
is proposed. The design and development of the current detection circuit is aimed to
produce a lab-scale technology and low in cost. In terms of detection, a fundamental current
detection device such as current transformer and current sensors are being tested. The
proposed design of the circuit will be simulated and the result will be validated with a real
value of an AC motor current reading.
