Abstract

Tsunami inundation is studied by using the lattice Boltzmann method. A lattice Boltzmann
model for non-linear shallow water equations with turbulence modelling (LABSWETM),
based on Navier-Stokes equations with large-eddy simulation and a subgrid-scale stress
for the unresolved scale stresses, is modified with Sisko viscosity model, to consider the
effect of non-Newtonian fluid’s feature. By using the LABSWETM
– Sisko Model, a onedimensional simulation is carried out to model and predict the tsunami waves at Kuala
Teriang, Kedah, Malaysia. In addition, thin film method is incorporated in order to analyse
on the computational and wave hydrodynamics parameters. The results demonstrate that
LABSWETM
– Sisko Model is feasible to simulate the inundation of the tsunami waves.
