Abstract

This final year report emphasized on the project title “Dehydration of Natural Gas through Adsorption Process Using Zeolite Molecular Sieve With Copper Catalyst “. It consists of multiple sections ranging from project background, literature review, methodology, results & discussion and conclusion. The objective of this project is to evaluate the separation efficiency of water from natural gas by performing laboratory experiments (continuous process), using various catalyst sizes and introducing regeneration process. Before laboratory experiments being carried out, characterization on various types of zeolites molecular sieves (3A, 4A, 5A and 13X) that are available in the market. Fundamental properties (pore size, surface area and pore volume) of zeolites have been studied. Characterization and screening study prior to parametric analysis have been carried out to determine the best zeolite type to be combined with copper that will be used during the dynamic studies. Other characterization analysis being done is Magnetic Suspension Balance (MSB), X-Ray Fluorescent (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Nitrogen physical adsorption and FESEM. The results are then finally summarized in the conclusion section. Recommendations will be made in order to achieve better performances in laboratory work and industrial practices. Targeting in improving the real-world industrial processes, it is hope that a profitable outcome will be obtained at the end of this project.
