Abstract

This report consists of background of the study of algae and palm oil residues in details to make the reader understand. It goes deeper in explaining by giving a detailed literature review firstly the algae and then the palm oil residues.
The next chapter is the gasification of algae and the palm oil residues, this chapter explains on how the raw materials that is, alagae and palm oil residues. Here the raw materials undergo a process known as gasification to algae. The next chapter talks about the selection of a gasifier, three gasifiers were considered to come out with a suitable one. These three gasifiers are downdraft gasifier, circulating fluidized bed and bubbling bed. Out of all the three gasifiers a downdraft was selected.
Simulation on HYSYS software was done in the next chapter. The results were obtained and were satisfactory.
For the last chapter economic evaluation was done and the SynGas production plant was found to be economical stable. Then a conclusion was drawn from the economic evaluation and the results.
