Abstract

The main objective of this project is to study the effects of pipe curvature on the results of impact tests. Impact test on pipes are typically performed on curved samples, and subsequent materials comparison are frequently conducted against results obtained from impact tests performed using flat samples. The main result that is compared is the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature. Previous work has suggested that the impact test results for flat and curved samples are not similar. In this work, the specimens were prepared according to ASTM standard E23 and the same standard was also used for laboratory testing.
