Abstract

The study area in Bukit Merah, Taiping is a part of Semanggol Formation; a mix of fine- to mud-rich sediments associated with turbidite system. The large volume of mud in this system produces different sediment distribution pattern, geomorphology, and architecture at mesoscopic scale. In order to refine understanding on the subject matter, this paper attempted to integrate the most applicable models with sequence stratigraphic concepts, outcrops and laboratory analyses, and modern and classic analogs to produce a geological map of the region while explaining the distal fan sedimentology. The data and findings reported intended to provide a framework to improve our understanding on the sedimentology aspects of distal fan.
