Abstract

Line coding schemes are used in all digital communication system whether it is radio frequency (RF), microwave or others. The usage of line coding scheme is to encode and
decode the data for transmission and receiving in the communication system. In optical communication system, data rates are higher compare to other communication systems
hence it needs slightly different line coding schemes compared to other systems. There are a number of coding schemes being used in the optical communication system such
as 2B3B (2 input bit to 3 output bit), 4B5B and 5B6B. These line coding schemes can be implemented by using software (MATLAB).
