Abstract

This report describes the design and implementation for the project, "Solar Panel Battery Charger". The main objective of this project is to use solar panel to charge a battery. The secondary objective is to make the charger more user friendly. There are two main parts in this project, the charging system and the tracking system. In the first half of this work, a tracking circuit was constructed to rotate the solar panel toward direction of a light. The tracking circuit was first simulated using a software, and only after the simulation success, the prototype was build. The tracking system prototype has been tested and it was a success, where it rotate when the solar panel did not receive enough light. But, there is no load attached to the motor during the test.
