Abstract

The aim of this study was to develop drilling fluid formulation containing
surfactant additive with good rheological properties. This study also evaluated the
performance of surfactants as shale swelling inhibitor and lubricant enhancer. In this
research, the surfactants used were 2-hexadecyloxyethanol as a non-ionic surfactant
and 1-butylheptyl benzene sulfonate as anionic surfactant.
