Abstract

The overall purpose of this research is about studying in designing a microwave oscillator. Finding out different ways of designing a microwave oscillator and understanding each of its concept. This research is conducted by first reading the theory of a microwave oscillator structure then simulating its circuit in a design software and last but not least fabricate the product. This research is important as the product is under the 5G of telecommunication technology category where 5G has yet to be released into the world thus this type of product or design is not available in the market yet. Few of the problems encountered while doing this research such as high phase noise due to high frequency and creating a perfect sinusoidal wave with constant amplitude. Choosing a suitable resonator and active device became a very important factor for designing a microwave oscillator as different components may lead to different types of results. The design software such as Advanced Design System is important in assisting us to observe the output graphs and s-parameters of the design after completing the simulation and before fabricating it. This research has been given a 2 semester time which is approximately 8 months to complete it under the subject name FYP I and FYP II.
