Abstract

The Kinta Valley is famous for its karstic limestone terrains, formed by the dissolution of carbonate by rain water. Due to their extensive amount of joints and fractures, limestone hills can pose dangers to properties and human due to instability of the slopes. In October 1973, rockfall in Gunung Cheroh has caused the death of 40 people. Structural failures had been reported as the main factor of rockfalls at these limestone hills
