Abstract

Flooding had been continuously being a serious problem in Teluk Intan, Perak,
Malaysia. Due to the location is surrounded by the Perak River with the meander formed
naturally. These phenomena were caused by the excessive rainfall happen in this area. With
regard to this issue, this project would like to simulate the effect of different rainfall intensity
to the river shore area. A model produce from Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) will be apply
to the Perak River in the disaster area regarding to the flooding issue. The simulated result
shown that any rainfall intensity higher than 40mm is putting Teluk Intan in the flooding
condition. With this simulation warning will be made to the resident and perhaps these data
will lend a hand to the related authorities to prevent and resolve the flooding issue in Teluk
Intan.
