Abstract

Corrosion damaged has been identified as the most degrading mechanism in steel
structure especially when exposed to sea environment while blast pressure is the one
that generates most impacts among the extreme loadings conditions. Even though
records mentioned that explosion accidental events only occurred at low frequency,
but the damage involve major fatalities to personnel and structural elements. Lots of
past research revolved around the effects of blast loads on offshore structure as
realizing the significant of the effects blast loads produced. However the effects of
blast loads on the dynamic behaviour of corroded offshore structure has not been
studied before and therefore, this study is conducted. Parametric study is carried out
where corroded offshore structure is represented by steel plates of the same aspect
ratio and characteristics.
