Abstract

Natural fiber composites are highly using in industry nowadays. These kinds
of composites are of the center of interest of many researchers. In this study, a wide
information about recycled High Density Polyethylene (r-HDPE) reinforced with
kenaf fibers has been collected from literature. MAPP is used as a coupling agent for
r-HDPE and kenaf fibers. Preparation of matrix and fiber composites, premanufacturing and manufacturing methods are collected together. This project
characterized mechanical properties in terms of tensile, flexural and impact properties
of recycled high density polyethylene reinforced with kenaf fibers. The results of
mechanical testing showed that, the composites with 70 wt% of r-HDPE and 30 wt%
of kenaf fibers tensile strength increased by 3.27 MPa, also when coupling agent
MAPP added to the composites, it increased by 9.6 MPa.
