Abstract

It is crucial to remove sulphur from the crude oil. This is because sulphur containing compound (SCC) in fuel can give negative impacts on the environment. Hydrodesulphurization (HDS) had been practiced at the refinery to remove the sulphur. However, due to its high pressure and temperature, and less effective in removing refractory SCC, it could increase the operating cost and lower the lifespan of the catalyst.
