Abstract

the present work, a series of mixed matrix membranes were synthesized. The polymer matrix was based on a polymer synthesized from 2,2'-bis (3,4-dicarboxyphenyl) hexafluoropropanedianhydride and durene diamine (6FDA-Durene). The inorganic fillers used were zeolite imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) and silicoaluminophosphate zeolite 34 (SAPO-34) respectively, with the weight percent ranging from 0 to 4.5 wt%. The morphologies of the resulting membranes were compared. From the comparison, the maximum loading of the inorganic particles that can be incorporated into the polymer matrix before phase separation between the inorganic particles and polymer matrix occurs is determined.
