Abstract

Several studies have been done on how to improve the efficiency of gas turbine in sense of increasing the output power generated. It is known that the output power generated by a gas turbine is inversely proportional to the air-intake temperature. This report concerns with designing an air-intake cooling system for Taurus 60 Gas Turbine Generator in UTP Gas District Cooling Plant using chilled water supply available.
This report consists of five important chapters that cover the introduction, problems statement, objectives of the projects, review of related literature, project methodology, discussion and finally the conclusion. The introduction part briefly discusses the specification of the Taurus 60 Gas Turbine Generator use in the UTP Gas District Cooling Plant. For this part, the focus is more on the problem statement that covers problem identification and the significant of the projects. This also will be the part where the objectives of the project are stated and it describes more on the relevance and the feasibility of the project within the scope and time frame given. The review of related literature on the effect of air-intake temperature on the gas turbine performance is enclosed in part two while the project methodology is covered in part three of the report. Then, in part four, all the information that had been able to gathered were been discuss and also the plan for the next step of the project. The project conclusion is also stated in the report together with the references used while doing research works on this project in the last chapter.
