Abstract

Solar energy is harvested solely from sun. This dependency on it source make the system sometime inapplicable. Researchers suggested that this problem can be tackled by addition of phase change material as energy storage of the system. In this study, flat plate solar collector enhanced with PCM is supposed to be evaluated experimentally. Method of study of this project has been written in Chapter 3 of this report. A mathematical model is produces based on previous researchers. Details of the mathematical representation can be seen in Chapter 4.To be able to do such experiment, a cycle to circulate fluid must be design and build. In Chapter 5, ideas of the design have been presented and finally came out with the final design. The cycle is selected to be an active open loop cycle with water as a working fluid of the system. This cycle has been fabricated and implemented in evaluating the collector. A detailed procedure regarding the experiment has been included in Chapter 6 followed by Conclusion and Recommendation in respective chapter.
