Abstract

This report will provide the readers about the investigation, research, work progress, and data gathering analysis done by the author regarding her Final Year Project entitled “The Study of Intumescent Fire Retardant Coating by adding Silica Sand as Filler”. The objective for the project is to develop the Intumescent Fire Retardant Coating by adding silica sand as filler. Due to the poor thermal properties of Intumescent Fire Retardant Coating, the coating oxidizes at high temperature and looses their fire protection properties [6]. The lowest size of the coating with low expand volume is too low to give a significant performance in fire protection properties of the coating.
