This project looks into the product development process (PDP) and its methodology. The main focus of this project is to develop a comprehensive methodology for the product development process which emphasizes customer preference, where the existing PDP in the industry will be analyzed and further simplified to reduce the cost of manufacturing and the production time. A background study on the PDP is done to get a detailed idea about the function and implementation of PDP in the industry. Scope of study is pre determined to set the boundary where the project will be revolving within. Literature review is developed with the knowledge from reading related journals and books. Literature review looks into the various definition of PDP, the significance of PDP, types of design methodology, risks in PDP and widely used PDP in industry. In order to carry out this project, a four step research methodology is proposed. The steps involved are preliminary analysis, development of simplified PDP methodology, development of case study and comparative approach. The entire report will focus on the process of developing comprehensive PDP and a case study will be conducted to test the developed PDP
