Abstract

This study aims to demonstrate how performance monitoring analysis of centrifugal compressor in the oil and gas industry has been made using statistical process control. By utilizing the data in DCS, X/MR chart was created by using Excel spread sheet to monitor and analyse any significant change occurred in the parameter. In the result, performance deterioration was detected in primary vent discharge pressure where it exceed the upper specification limit which represents the maximum allowable operating range for the parameter. From the troubleshooting of the increasing trend in the primary vent discharge pressure which indicates gas seal leakage, decision has been made based on maintenance advisory where the old dry gas seal of high pressure compressor has been changed from old to a new one.
