The complexity of the reservoir creates problem in the reservoir simulation. The single dominating force assumption is normally not valid for a multiphase flow reservoir and the problems become more significant during upscalling as the flow regimes will affect the upscaled dynamic properties of the fluid. The objectives of this project are to investigate the effect of different fluids dominating forces on the simulation by upscaling the relative permeability curve using the pseudo function and compare the simulation results between the fine grids model to the relative permeability scaled-up coarser grid model. The theory for reservoir simulation especially ECLIPSE, parameters and assumptions needed for different fluid dominated forces, relative permeability, upscaling, is being studied. Firstly, an intensive literature review was done to understand the problems faced in the current trend and technologies used to deal with reservoir simulations and further identify the areas of improvements needed. Next, simulation using fine grid and upscaled coarser grid was done. Simulation model of the fine grid and the corresponding pseudo upscaled simulation was done and the results were compared. Finally, an analysis on the results to determine the worthiness of the project was done. Only one base case scenario was simulated along with the pseudo upscaled simulation. The generation of pseudo relative permeability curve for a faster simulation time is not feasible in this study
