Abstract

Immobilizing the industrial waste by means of the Solidification/Stabilization (S/S) Technology with the use of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and an additive binder, Rice Husk Ash (RHA). Industrial waste cannot be disposed directly to the environment due to the high contaminant of hazardous and toxic materials. One of the hazardous industrial wastes is the Lead (Pb) Sludge from Yokohama Reclamation Plant. It is found that Lead (Pb) is acute toxic to human beings when present in high amount and since it is not biodegradable, once the soil is contaminated, it remains a long term exposure but it can be reduced by incorporating Portland Cement and RHA. Proper mixture ratio of industrial waste to cement to water to RHA is needed to optimize the best performance. Differences in their workability and performance will diverge according to the variable ratios. Properties of the raw material and paste are measured from the initial state after the mixture of the different ratio and it will be compared to the final state after maturing/curing the sample product. The trend between the properties will be able to investigate the effect of immobilization to the industrial waste by using the S/S technology.
