Abstract

The activated sludge treatment process is a biologcal method of wastewater treatment that is performed by variable and mixed community of microorganism in an aerobic aquaic environment. The Universti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) owns a sewage treatment plant (STP) that discharges its waste stream into a small stream. The discharge is permited by the Department of Evironment. The STP was designed to meet effluent limitations of Standard B. The objective of this study is to optimize the UTP's removal parameters or pollutants such as oil and grease, TOC, COD and also heavy metal such as copper.
