Abstract
The project is about quality control process on Pipeline Engineering Data for
improvement in Pipeline Engineering. Main focus of this project is on quality control
process for pipeline positioning data. Regulatory authorities in many countries are
moving away from prescriptive approaches for keeping pipelines safe. As an
alternative, quality data management based on a quality control process is being
considered to improve the level of safety. This FYP focuses on the development of
quality control process for pipeline engineering data. This can be anticipated by using
the information of pipeline geometry and positional accuracy of a Geographic
Information Systems (GIS). The quality control process for a real pipeline engineering
data from PIRI GIS FINDER database needs to be analyzed with pipeline engineering
position survey datasets as discussed on the methodology section. The quality control
process may be useful for data management during the planning and building stages of a
new pipeline, and modification of a buried pipeline. In addition, throughout the quality
control process, the outcome will verify the quality level of the existing pipeline
engineering data in the database.
