Abstract
The tensile strength capacity of grout-filled steel will be investigated to see whether
there is any significant contribution from the grout to increase the resistivity against
failure when in extreme tension. Although the tensile capacity of a grout is very low
compared to steel, a noticeable change in the grout-filled steel should be acquired
since there is tensile strength in grout. This can be done by comparing the effect of
high tension force in grout-filled tubular steel and hollow tubular steel. Any
difference in the ultimate yield strength will indicate the influence of the presence of
grout filled in the steel. It is expected that the tension required for the grout-filled
steel and the hollow steel to fail is significantly different, which will be higher for the
grout-filled steel compared to the hollow steel.
