Abstract
New procedures are presented and existing procedures are reviewed to aid in the measurement of properties related to performance of polyacrylamide solutions. Recently
the research interest of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) is increasing because HPAM is broadly used in various industrial and commercial applications, especially in oil and gas industry. Oscillation measurement tests were conducted to characterize the viscosity behavior ofHPAM. In this project paper, a survey is given on rheological properties of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide solution. Master solution ofHPAM at 300, 500, and 700ppm and also diluted solutions which ranging from 10 to 50ppm are tested to find the rheological properties of HPAM. The result of hydration time and concentration ofmaster and dilute HPAMwere investigated as well. In order to
accomplish this project, research on the different concentration and the hydration period will be conducted on how strength of polymer will affect the viscous and elastic modulus behavior. Both master and dilute polymer solutions will be analyzed using Bohlin Gemini 2 II rheometer at a closed room temperature of 25°C. These polymer solutions were performed to make a comparative analysis ofthe results and the modulus behavior profile are observed basedon the hydration period and concentrations given.
