Abstract
The lack of fundamental understanding about the dispersion of fuel gases after leakage occurrence has encouraged this project to be done. The objective of this project is to study the behavior of fuel gases when it mixed with air in 2D simulation. This project also aims to study the formation and decomposition of flammabihty region when fuel gases mixed with air. The problems with fuel gases are that most ofthem are almost untraceable. Most ofthem are odorless and colorless. Should any leaks occur, it is very hazardous. This project will be very useful in developing fuel gases detection system. The fuel gases that were accounted are methane, hydrogen, ethane, propane, butane, carbon monoxide and acetylene. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation is use in this project as tools to study the behavior of transient
mixing of fuel gases with air and the development and decay of flammability region. The expected results are as the picture below.
