Abstract

Seabed Logging is an application of marine Control Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) sounding, which can be applied to detect and characterize hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs in deep water areas. The basis of the approach is the use of a mobile Horizontal Electric Dipole (HED) source and an array of seafloor electric field receivers. This document describes the approach used in development of a novel terminated insulated antenna in a conducting medium. The main purpose of this project is to develop a new design of antenna that could function more efficient compared to HED. The developed antenna will act as a source that propagates EM wave for hydrocarbon detection purposes. The project includes research and study on the conceptual knowledge of EM itself.
